Seedling stem turning white/clear color and dies
Cantaloupe
None Given
I really dont have "green knowledge "and thus need your help. This is my second attempt at growing cantaloupe plants. I live in Miami therefore it's hot and humid here and lately my plants are plagued with gnats. I am able to get the cantaloupe plant stem about 3-4 inches high and then it starts to turn upwards a white, almost clear color, it becomes thinner, leaves curl, and eventually the stem collapses and dies. When I pull out the stem there are no roots. I was able to pull out the strongest plant and repot with the few roots it still had although at this point I am not sure if it'll do any good.
In the morning, by the time i got back from work the one on the bottom left practically thinned out to almost disappearing. The one on top fell out showing no roots left and the strongest looking one I repotted with the few roots it still had.
