PlantVillage is focused on the health of the plant during its growth and not post-harvest. But with that said the thin film you describe sounds normal. Inside fruit the main problems are bacterial and fungal generalists but they are not common as fruits are generally unfavorable places for such growth.it happens only if the fruit is off the plant for an extended time. But since you are asking if you should eat this let me remind you that any advice you follow from PlantVillage is at your own risk.
