Purple flies on sage leaves

I have purple fly like bugs on the backs of my sage plants' leaves. What are they? How do I remove them and prevent recurrence ?

Can you upload a picture? It may not even be a harmful insect. Less than 1% are really the bad guys. Are your leaves showing any symptoms of damage (discoloration, distorted growth or chewed places)?
