My capsicum plant is big and healthy but the flowers drop off before they can bear any fruit??

Jim Donnelly commented,
It could also be temperature related Dave. Peppers prefer a night temperature of about 16C and a daily mean temperature of 21C. Departing from this will reduce flowering, fruit set or fruit size. Sometimes artificial means can be used to moderate unfavourable conditions: shading, misting, heating or cooling. Check out this gov link: http://www1.agric.gov.ab.ca/$departme...

Dave,
Low levels of magnesium in the soil can cause leaf, bud, flower and fruit drop. Try making a magnesium rich solution by adding 1 tsp. of Epsom salt to a quart of water, then and apply to soil. Let me know what happens...

Pollinated flowers will not set fruit when the temperature is above 86 degrees F at night, because of excessive transpiration which causes blossom drop. Other causes of blossom drop include excessive nitrogen and high winds.
If daytime temperatures exceed 95 degrees F, pollen becomes sterile and fruit set will be reduced.
