Yellow and curled leaves on a plum, no aphids
Plum and prune South America
I planted this plum a few months ago and it has a lot of new growth, but most of the leaves are yellow and curled. I didn't find any aphids or any other sign in the leaves. Does anybody have an idea of what it could be? I hope not a virus...

A virus is one of the things that comes to mind, and if so, it is not going to be curable. Another possibility is herbicide exposure - any chance something has been sprayed in the vicinity? There may be evidence (similar symptoms) on nearby plants too. If you see new leaves emerging that are more normal looking - green and not twisted - then lean toward herbicide injury. This probably calls for a wait and see approach.

I am afraid that it may be a virus too, in which case, it would be best to pull the tree now. The most risk to neighboring trees would be to other stone fruits (plums, cherries, peaches, almonds). Stone fruits share some diseases and pome fruits (apples, pears) share others. I don't think there is much overlap between stone and pome fruit diseases, although I am willing to be corrected if someone knows more. over 9 years ago.
