Why is my pumpkin covered in orange blotches?

Pumpkin    None Given

I have attached a pic. Can someone tell me what is happening and if this is normal.

Is the pumpkin flesh soft in the discolored areas? It could be the early stage of a bacterial of fungal rot.
If it's not a rot disease, it might just be a genetic mutation (chimera type phenomenon).

I looks like it got frosted/frozen to me. Nice looking pumpkin otherwise.
