Blackberry problems

Blackberry    None Given

We have thornless blackberry vines that yield a lot of large berries. The problem is a good share of them have some dried brown seeds and also clear/whitish ones that look like insects have sucked the juice out of them. This make that portion of the berry hard inside in that area. What is wrong? Thank you!

Pale/white drupelets on blackberries can be caused by sunscald after a rain and insect damage. Some cultivars are more prone to this. Is yours Apache? Your picture suggests all three. You could try switching to Ouachita, but I suspect insects are a major part of the problem.

Kathy commented,
Thank you Dennis. We have had several rains, followed by very hot days. Not sure what type of blackberry it is. We purchased it from a nursery several years ago. We will try your suggestion of bagging some up and seeing if that makes a difference.
